Oakdale:
A total of 1,117
juvenile Chinook salmon were captured between March 6 and
March 19, increasing the season total to 43,175 (Figure 1).
Daily catch ranged from 25 to 164 Chinook. Average
forklength was 39.2 mm and ranged from 30 mm to 90 mm.
Average weight for captured Chinook was 2.0 g and ranged
from 0.2 g to 4.8 g.
No O. mykiss
were captured during the sampling period.
No trap efficiency tests were conducted at Oakdale during
the sample period due to low catch numbers.

Caswell:
Caswell (RM 8.6) screw
traps were installed and began sampling on March 7 (Figure
2). A total of 455 juvenile Chinook salmon were captured
between March 7 and March 19 (Figure 3). Daily catch ranged
from 22 to 92 Chinook. Average forklength was 49.8 mm and
ranged from 32 mm to 93 mm. Average weight for captured
Chinook was 1.9 g and ranged from 0.2 g to 7.4 g.
One yearling Chinook
was captured during the sample period with a forklength of
161 mm and a weight of 148.2 g. The yearling was not
included in the total catch or in calculations for mean
length or weight.
No trap efficiency
tests were conducted at Caswell during the sample period due
to low catch numbers.

Environmental Data:
Instantaneous water temperature fluctuated between 43.0°F
and 49.6°F at Oakdale and ranged between 47.0°F and 51.4°F
at Caswell. Turbidity ranged from 0.9 NTU to 2.6 NTU at
Oakdale and between 2.15 NTU and 3.58 NTU at Caswell.
During the sampling period, releases from Goodwin Dam (GDW)
ranged between 3,002 cfs and 3,585 cfs. Flows at Orange
Blossom Bridge (OBB; RM 46.9) ranged from 2,982 cfs to 3,559
cfs and at Ripon (RIP; RM 15.8) from 2,950 cfs to 3,355 cfs. |
