Tuolumne River Juvenile Chinook Outmigration Update                                     June 2, 2006

May 15 through May 28, 2006, Report No. 9

Waterford:

The Waterford rotary screw trap sampled eight out of 14 days between May 15 and May 28.  A total of 315 juvenile Chinook salmon were captured, increasing the season total to 8,432. Daily catch ranged from one to 72 Chinook (Figure 1). Average forklength was 93.6 mm and ranged from 33 mm to 115 mm. Average weight was 8.2 g and ranged from 5 g to 11.3 g.

No O. mykiss were captured in the rotary screw trap during this sampling period.

Two trap efficiency tests were conducted at Waterford on May 17 and May 26 using Chinook from the Merced River Hatchery with a resulting efficiency of 0.5% and 0.1%, respectively (Table 1).

No O. mykiss were captured in the rotary screw trap during this sampling period.

One trap efficiency test was conducted at Grayson on May 25 using Chinook from the Merced River Hatchery with a resulting efficiency of 0.1% (Table 2).
