Chinook
A total of 33 natural juvenile
Chinook were captured at Grayson (RM 5) between June 6 and
June 16 increasing the season total to 1,309. Daily catch
ranged from 0 to 9 Chinook (Figure 1). Average forklength
was 97 mm and ranged from 80 mm to 115 mm.

Sampling was terminated for the
season on June 16 due to consistently low catch during the
last few weeks. In comparison, sampling was terminated in
past years as early as May 24 and as late as July 1.
Other species
A total of 10 non-salmonid
species were captured in the traps during the sampling period
including bluegill, fathead minnow, inland silverside, golden
shiner, largemouth bass, mosquito fish, red shiner, Sacramento
sucker, smallmouth bass, and white catfish. Of these,
young-of-the-year largemouth bass (n = 7) were the most
abundant and were 32 mm to 42 mm in length.
The next most abundant non-salmonid
species was white catfish (n =3) that measured between 82 mm
and 160 mm. Daily catch of other non-salmonids species ranged
between 1 and 2 individuals.
Environmental Data
Environmental conditions
fluctuated slightly throughout the sampling period.
Instantaneous temperature at Grayson fluctuated between 55° F
and 58° F and turbidity ranged from 2.4 NTU to 3.6 NTU.
During the sampling period, flow at La Grange Dam (LGN; RM
52.2) ranged between 3,995 cfs and 4,303 cfs. Flows at
Modesto (MOD; RM 16.3) ranged from 3,994 cfs to 4,387 cfs.
