| | 2008 VAMP Study
 The San Joaquin River Group (SJRG) initiated the Acoustic-Tagged Smolt Distribution Study in conjunction with the Vernalis Adaptive Management Plan (VAMP) for the second consecutive year. | | Study fish are being tagged at Merced River Fish Hatchery and held for 24 hours prior to transport. At the release sites, fish will be acclimated for 1 hour and held for 1 hour prior to release. Releases are being made at Durham Ferry and Stockton, with two releases at each site. Releases are scheduled for April 29 (Durham Ferry), May 1 (Stockton), May 6 (Durham Ferry) and May 8 (Stockton). The Durham Ferry groups being divided in half with half released during the day and the other half released at night. Releases at Stockton are occuring during the day and at night on the slack tide following the flood and ebb tides.
The total number of fish tagged and released for the experiment will be 950, or 475 per release period. Within each release period, approximately 285 fish (or 60%) will be released at Durham Ferry and 190 (40%) will be released at Stockton. | | | | | | |
